Winter Wilderness Travel

This course introduces students to the principles of outdoor leadership applied to muti-day winter wilderness travel with particular emphasis on pre-trip planning, environmental ethics, and backcountry navigation and camping techniques. Concepts and skills are introduced through presentations, demonstrations, and discussions; and they are reinforced through experiential learning on a rigorous multi-day winter wilderness expedition. PREREQ: PHED 2419 and PHED 2159 (Sem/Field Work) cr 1.5
